Welcome to the website for the Bowie Mill community in Olney, Maryland. This site has been created to provide the most up-to-date information on a proposed residential community with 114 residential, for-sale homes near the intersection of Bowie Mill Road and Cashell Road.

Providing Housing Opportunities
Montgomery County has recognized the long term challenges of having an adequate supply of reasonably priced housing. To help meet that need, the County made a policy decision to use surplus County owned property to help provide more affordable home ownership opportunities for its residents. In keeping with that policy, the County decided to use their property on Bowie Mill Road in Olney as a location to create a mixed income community. The development proposal presented here is a result of that initiative.
Hard-working families in Montgomery County simply can not afford homes in the community where they work or where they were raised due to the high cost of real estate. Montgomery County teachers, nurses, police, fire fighters, government employees, and other hard-working families are reporting that they must go outside the County to find a home they can afford. To address this crisis in affordable housing, the County chose the Bowie Mill Development Team after a lengthy public evaluation process to create home-ownership opportunities for families who want to work and live in Montgomery County.
